Visa Application Guidance

Visa requirements for entry into Sri Lanka may vary depending on your nationality, passport type and purpose of travel.

Based on the guidance provided by our host, MTV, delegates attending the 63rd ABU General Assembly and Associated Meetings are required to obtain a Business Visa for their participation in the General Assembly.

Delegates are advised to check the applicable requirements well in advance and complete the necessary visa formalities before travelling to Sri Lanka.

  1. Check Requirements and Apply

Before travelling, please check the applicable requirements for your nationality and purpose of travel through the official Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka website:

For information on Business Visa requirements, including the applicable procedures and supporting documents, please refer to the official guidance provided by the Department of Immigration and Emigration.

Important: Delegates attending the ABU General Assembly should follow the Business Visa requirements applicable to their purpose of travel. Please do not assume that a tourist visa or ETA is applicable to participation in the General Assembly.

Where applicable, visa applications should be made through the official Sri Lankan government channels or the relevant Sri Lankan Overseas Mission.

Please use only official Sri Lankan government websites and authorised channels when submitting your visa application.

ETA Information

The Sri Lankan authorities also operate an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system for certain categories of travel. However, ETA should not be assumed to be applicable to delegates attending the ABU General Assembly, as the purpose of travel and nationality may affect the applicable procedure.

Delegates who are unsure of the appropriate visa category are advised to contact the Sri Lankan immigration authorities or the relevant Sri Lankan Overseas Mission before making an application.
